Dubrovnik city walls: ticket, timing and guided walk
Updated October 8, 2026 · 6 min read
Dubrovnik’s walls are a complete circuit with stairs, exposed sections and little shade. The official operator opens them year-round, though they may close on major public holidays; hours change by season and the last entry falls before the closing time. Check the official timetable on the day.
The walls ticket also permits Fort Lovrijenac under the operator’s current rules, while a Lovrijenac-only ticket requires a supplement for the walls. A guided city walls and Old Town walk currently starts at €24.92 per person, but read whether the admission ticket or Dubrovnik Pass is included.
Early morning usually means cooler stone and fewer groups; late afternoon brings softer light but can leave less margin. Midday is the least forgiving in summer. Bring water and shoes with grip. There is no honest shortcut around the steps, so travellers with limited mobility should confirm the exact route.
A guide is worthwhile for defensive history and city context; independent visitors gain freedom over pace. Check the guided walls walk or compare Old Town tours.
